Aftercare is a treatment component offered as an extension to other treatment programs, to provide individuals with group support. Aftercare services are offered to clients who have completed the intensive phase of a rehabilitation program, and are not offered to the general public. This component is not intended to be a replacement or a substitute for outpatient care.
The goal of Aftercare is to help people live a sober/clean life. Aftercare is recommended for a two-year period which offers a long-term means of support for sobriety. The Aftercare Program at Acadia Recovery Community has a number of groups which meet on weeknight evenings for one and half hours once a week. Aftercare is not Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous.
