Acadia Hospital Hosting Ethics Conference for Providers May 2
Bangor, ME – Acadia Hospital is hosting a conference entitled, Ethical Practice in the Modern World: Implications for Providers,
on Friday, May 2 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the hospital.
The conference features keynote speaker John Yasenchak, EdD, LCPC, LADC, assistant professor in the Graduate Counseling and Human Relations Program at Husson University. Dr. Yasenchak will provide a general introduction to ethics, focus on philosophical assumptions behind the definition of mental disorder in DSM-V, and then outline issues from informed consent, clinical significance, labeling, etc., from an ethical point of view.
Other featured speakers include Acadia Hospital Medical Director of Research and Education Erik Kuntz, MD, FAPA; Acadia Hospital Psychiatrist Nathan Valentine, MD; and Chief of Geriatric Mental Health and Neuropsychiatry at Acadia Hospital and Eastern Maine Medical Center, Clifford Singer, MD.
The program is designed for social workers, nurses, substance abuse counselors, primary care physicians and all other behavioral health providers.
