Psychopharmacology, Neurocare of Maine,
Emergency Evaluations/Consultation and Assessment, Regional Clinics

Through our Ambulatory Services we diagnose, educate, and treat clients effectively and efficiently on an outpatient basis. Specialty services include Psychopharmacology, Neurocare of Maine, and Consultation Services. The treatment team consists of highly qualified psychiatrists, psychologists, neurologists, clinicians, clinical nurse specialists, and an experienced support staff.

For people in crisis, Consultation Services provide emergency evaluation and assessment. After an initial evaluation, performed at The Acadia Hospital or Eastern Maine Medical Center's Emergency Department, individuals are referred to the least restrictive level of care at The Acadia Hospital or to another mental health care provider.

Neurocare of Maine offers onsite outpatient evaluation and treatment for neurological disorders and disorders associated with head injury. Many of our neurology clients are referred from one of our inpatient units or through Consultation Services.

The Psychopharmacology and Substance Abuse Disorders Service provides medication clinics for children and adults who need medication to treat mental illnesses or emotional and/or behavioral disorders. Most clients are referred from another service of The Acadia Hospital or by a family doctor or therapist. Treatment entails thorough evaluation followed by careful monitoring and follow-up visits. The clinics are staffed with LCPC's, LCSW's, nurses, clinical nurse specialists, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, and psychiatrists who work collaboratively with the patients and their community providers to treat complex psychiatric disorders.
