Acadia Hospital Treatment Programs for People with Substance Abuse and Co-occurring Disorders
The Acadia Hospital outpatient mental health, dual diagnosis and substance abuse treatment programs are designed to provide quick access to medical and clinical evaluations and treatment. We provide services in a non-confrontational, empathetic and welcoming manner to our patients, and work to facilitate active communication and collaboration with existing community providers and family members. Narcotic Treatment Program: This is a long-term medical and clinical treatment program that provides buprenorphine and methadone maintenance treatment, clinical and medical assessment and therapy for people suffering from moderate to severe opioid dependency. Random drug screening, family and group counseling are also offered. This program specializes in the treatment of pregnant opioid dependent women, their babies and children 0-3 years old, and those diagnosed with Hepatitis C. Adult Intensive Outpatient Substance Abuse Program: This is a therapeutic program for adults suffering from minimal to severe addiction disorders at all stages of stability. Programming is offered Monday Through Friday 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM with weekday walk-in evaluations offered at 7:30 AM. Group programming is also offered on Saturday and Sunday 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. This IOP treatment is primarily a group therapy program that offers coping and life-skills development and relapse prevention treatment. For people actively using alcohol or drugs this program offers strategies to increase safety when using intravenously, or experimenting with new drugs, and teaches participants to recognize and react to overdose situations. Outpatient detoxification services are available along with medical and psychiatric evaluation, case management and crisis intervention services. Moving On: An intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment program that meets Monday through Thursday 8:00-11:30 AM. Moving On provides participants with a traditional 12-step recovery format and treatment approach. Referrals are individually considered for program cohesiveness and participant commitment. Participants are provided with early recovery skills, education and coaching to actualize their abstinence-based treatment objectives. The group is available for individuals who receive replacement therapy.
Adult Intensive Outpatient Dual Diagnosis Program: This is a therapeutic program for adults suffering from co-occurring disorders. Programming is available Monday through Friday 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM. (cont. on back)
In addition to a balanced educational focus on addiction and mental health conditions participants learn strategies to assist in the management of their conditions and to improve their overall functionality while gaining support from others experiencing similar circumstances. Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment: Acadia Hospital specializes in the evaluation and treatment of adolescents suffering from addiction disorders utilizing a range of program options services, including outpatient counseling, across the Hospital's outpatient services. Monday-Friday walk-in evaluations for treatment recommendations and programming are offered at 7:30 AM. Inquiries and referrals can be made to the Access Center at 973-6100.
Intensive Outpatient Mental Health Program: This program offers individual and group therapy, case management and medication management for adults suffering from mental health conditions. Programming is available Monday through Friday 9:00-2:00 with intensity adjusted depending on treatment need.
Inpatient detoxification and psychiatric stabilization services. Acadia offers inpatient adult, adolescent and child acute psychiatric and substance abuse care. Inquiries can be made to the Access Center at 973-6100.
Extended Shelter: This is an up to 45-day residential treatment program on the Acadia Recovery Community Campus for adults who require 24-hour treatment support and structure as they stabilize moderate to severe addiction disorders. Daily group therapy, 12-Step programming and socialization skill development treatment is offered as primary modalities. To make a referral call the Acadia Hospital Access Center at 973-6100.
Bridge Transitional Housing: A transitional housing program on the Acadia Recovery Community Campus that provides 24-hour staff support to people with a history of addiction. This is a 10-bed communal living setting in which residents have their own bedroom but share other resources such as living and kitchen space. The objective of this program is to assist people in rebuilding daily living skills, managing their responsibilities and assist them in moving to a higher level of independent living. Typically participants have an existing provider team in the community and are encouraged to continue in active treatment throughout their stay at The Bridge.
