| Patient Confidentiality |
A patient's right to privacy is important to everyone at The Acadia Hospital. Permission to visit or inquire about a patient's condition is given only by the patient; state and federal laws to this effect are strictly enforced by our staff. When you are visiting the hospital, please do not approach patients you may recognize in the halls or on the units. You may inquire about the patient you have permission to visit, but not about other patients at The Acadia Hospital.
Without the patient's permission, federal and state laws prohibit any employee of The Acadia Hospital from either confirming or denying if the person is a patient currently in our care. All patients to The Acadia Hospital complete a visitor's list upon admission, naming the people they grant permission to visit them on the unit or to inquire about their medical condition. If your name does not appear on the list of the person you wish to visit, you will not be allowed into the inpatient areas. The Acadia Hospital's policy is to comply with all state and federal patient confidentiality laws in order to protect the privacy of our patients and to provide them with a safe and confidential environment. Your cooperation in helping us maintain this protective environment is appreciated. |
