The Acadia Hospital’s Narcotic Treatment Program has been critical in my getting off drugs and getting my life back.  I was a hardcore opiate abuser for 12 years and after 10-15 rehabs and trying on my own to stay clean I did not think anything would work; I had basically given up hope of ever leading a normal life. 

Thankfully I went back to rehab at Acadia and while there heard of the methadone program.  It has totally changed my life.  I actually have one now, I’m not constantly trying to get high.  I have my children and have been able to buy a brand new home. 

With the help and support of all the staff, today I look forward to each new day instead of dreading it.  The people who work in the clinic are a bunch of incredibly caring individuals who are helpful, supportive and really care where you are in recovery. 

Something else I am now able to do because of the clinic is help others.  It is something that brings me joy but was completely out of reach when I was using.  I would just like anyone out there who wants to know what Acadia Clinic is to know that it was and is my life saver.
