Acadia Hospital Executive Leadership
Listed below are the members of The Acadia Hospital Executive Leadership Team. They are responsible for strategic planning and administrative oversight of The Acadia Hospital.
 Anthony T. Ng, MD FAPA
Dr. Ng is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and the George Washington University School of Medicine. He is a board-certified psychiatrist and currently the chief medical officer at Acadia Hospital.
He is the immediate past President of the American Association of Emergency Psychiatry as well as being a member of the boards of the American Association of Community Psychiatrists. He has a lengthy history of involvement and advocacy in community mental health issues. He has extensive experience in the area of primary care and mental health, cross cultural issues, community system issues, substance abuse and homeless issues. He is also involved in community mental health, emergency psychiatry and disaster mental health. He was the former chairperson for the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) Multicultural Advisory Committee, which advised the Commissioner of Mental Health on issues of cultural competency within the OMH system. Dr. Ng has presented numerous lectures and written extensively in the area of disaster mental health, crisis management, cross cultural issues, homelessness, substance abuse issues and other community mental health issues.
Dr. Ng received his bachelor degree at The City College and his medical degree at SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine. He completed his psychiatry residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital and an additional year of training as a Public Psychiatry Fellow at Columbia/Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Ng was the director of the Primary Care Consultation-Liaison Service at Gouverneur Hospital in New York City and later, one of the associate medical directors of Project Renewal, Inc, a non-profit agency that works with the homeless with mental illness and substance abuse in New York City. Dr. Ng had also worked with Project HELP, a homeless outreach team in New York City.
 Clements, Karen - RN, BSN, MSB
Karen Clements RN, BSN, MSB Vice President of Nursing/CNO
Clements graduated from the University of Maine with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and took a Direct Commission to the Army Nurse Corps. Clements spent four years active duty and seven years in the reserve serving the country during Desert Storm. When she returned to Maine to raise a family, her path took her back to EMMC where she worked for almost 20 years before coming to Acadia.
She spent the last six years as a patient care administrator over several programs including the Inpatient and Emergent Psychiatric Services, Emergency Department, Rehabilitation, Critical Care, Imaging, Trauma, and Telemedicine. She also developed programs for Walk-In Care and the Anticoagulation Clinic.
Later in her career Clements successfully obtained her Masters in Business from Husson College and has earned the Fellow status from the American College of Healthcare Executives.
 Coffey B, Daniel - President and CEO
Daniel B. Coffey President and CEO The Acadia Hospital
Function Daniel B. Coffey is president and chief executive officer of The Acadia Hospital. Coffey has worked within EMHS in a number of roles with increasing responsibility, currently serving as executive vice president, treasurer, and chief financial officer.
The Road to Here Dan arrived at Eastern Maine Medical Center in 1976 and served in positions of increasing responsibility before assuming duties at the system in 1984. Previously, he was assistant administrator and chief financial officer at the (65 bed) Community General Hospital in Fort Fairfield, Maine.
Dan holds a BS degree in Business Administration from Husson University, Bangor, Maine and a MS degree in Business Administration (with a concentration in healthcare financial management) from the University of South Carolina, Columbia. He is a fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and served that organization as Maine chapter president, chapter liaison representative for New England, and as a member of HFMA's National Board of Directors for two years. He is a member of the Maine Hospital Association Council on Economics and Finance, he also serves on the Healthcare Roundtable for Chief Financial Officers. His EMHS responsibilities included management and oversight of finance, human resources, information technology, internal audit, and compliance. Dan’s civic involvement includes terms on public and private school boards and he has served on the board of trustees for the All Souls Congregational Church, Bangor Symphony Orchestra, Good Samaritan Agency, and the YWCA. He developed and taught a course in healthcare financial management at the Husson College Graduate School of Business. Dan is currently a member of the Board of Directors for Husson University and HealthInfoNet, and serves on the Investment Committee for the Bangor Y.
 Helberg, Ted - Vice President of Human Resources
In his role, Helberg has responsibility for Employee Relations, Compensation/Benefits, Professional Development and Training, Organizational Effectiveness, Change Management, Safety and Health, Employment, Community Relations, and Strategy Management.
Prior to joining Acadia, Helberg served as VP of Human Resources for Myllykoski North America and was Functional Head of International Human Resources. He also served on the Executive Board of the corporation. Myllykoski is one of the world’s premier suppliers of coated and uncoated paper for the publishing industry. It has mills in the United States, Germany, Finland, and Switzerland.
Prior to his paper industry experience, he worked for twenty years in the food industry in both production and Human Resources.
 Suitter, Marie - CFO
Marie Suitter Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Suitter earned her B.S. in Accounting from Husson College in 1978, and a Masters of Science in Business from Husson College in 2001.
Her healthcare accounting career began in 1983 at The Aroostook Medical Center and continued with her becoming the reimbursement manager in 1989. Her next position was with EMHS as the reimbursement manager for the system. As an EMHS employee Suitter began her work on behalf of Acadia Hospital as its Vice President and CFO in 2002.
In her role as CFO for Acadia Hospital Suitter is responsible for coordinating financial resources and providing timely financial advice to Acadia Hospital leadership to ensure Acadia’s fiscal stability.
Among her many professional affiliations, Suitter is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and serves on the Supervisory Committee for EMMC Federal Credit Union.
