Hannaford Charitable Foundation Provides $20,000 Grant

(BANGOR, ME) — The Hannaford Charitable Foundation has provided The Acadia Hospital with a $20,000 grant to support the implementation of computerized physician order entry (CPOE). This investment in technology is part of the hospital's Keep the Promise capital campaign.

"The Hannaford Charitable Foundation is pleased to lend its support to Acadia's Keep the Promise Campaign," said Tom Perry, District Manager for Hannaford Supermarkets. "Hannaford values its role in improving the quality of life for Maine communities and Acadia Hospital provides an important service to Bangor-area residents."

Acadia's Keep the Promise Campaign, which has raised more than $800,000 to date, is designed to support the renovation of the children's inpatient unit, allow upgrades to be made at the Acadia Recovery Community, and provide funds to help construct additional space for substance abuse treatment programs. In addition, the campaign has identified technology upgrades as a priority.

"As a Magnet Hospital Acadia is constantly looking to stay on the cutting edge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment, and CPOE will allow us to become much more efficient in providing quality care to our patients," stated Acadia Hospital President and CEO Dorothy E. Hill, RNC. "The financial support from the Hannaford Charitable Foundation will allow us to continue the process of upgrading our technology and we are grateful for their support."

The Acadia Hospital is a private, non-profit psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment provider. As a member of EMHS, Acadia works with its affiliated organizations to ensure the highest quality care is available to all who need it. Go to www.acadiahospital.org for more information.

The Hannaford Charitable Foundation was established in 1994 as part of a charitable giving program to provide financial support to non-profit organizations dedicated to improving the communities in which Hannaford operates. In 2006, the Foundation contributed over $1.4 million to 135 organizations across its five state marketing area. For more information please go to www.hannaford.com.
