Acadia Hospital Earns Accolades for Film, Mental Health Screening
Bangor, Me—Acadia recently received recognition for excellence regarding the film, The Road Back, and its involvement in National Depression Screening Day.
A short feature film on adolescent anxiety and depression, The Road Back, produced by Acadia Hospital in conjunction with Project AWARE and Maine teens, was chosen by Healthline.com as one of the ten best depression videos of 2013. The movie, written and directed by Hermon High School Senior Faith Bishop, also won honors for Best Student Film at the Iowa Independent Film Festival.
Maine High Schools Host Challenge Days for Students
Day-long Sessions Sponsored and Coordinated by Acadia Hospital
Hermon, topsham, Millinocket Me—Over 400 Maine high school students and their adult facilitators experienced the powerful one day program called Challenge Day during the week of November 4. Mt. Ararat in Topsham hosted two days, while Hermon hosted a day and Stearns and Schenck High Schools partnered for one day in the greater Millinocket area, inviting a special team of student leaders from Mattanawcook Academy in Lincoln to join them.

Bangor, ME – Nearly 200 people comprised of community members, donors, Acadia Hospital employees and members of the Leonard family gathered together Friday, June 28 on the psychiatric hospital’s campus to dedicate a new healing garden in memory of Anita Leonard. One of the founders of Acadia Hospital, along with her husband Ralph Leonard, Anita was fondly remembered by hospital officials and family members during the brief program.

The award was presented at the Maine Public Relations Council’s (MPRC) annual Golden Arrow Awards ceremony held at the USM Abromson Center in Portland on October 11.

Acadia Hospital Partners with NESCom Students to Design Film Poster
Bangor, ME –For over a year The Acadia Hospital has been working with partner Project AWARE and area teens to produce a high quality dramatic short film about teen depression and anxiety entitled, The Road Back.
With the public premiere scheduled for March 21, 7:00 PM at Gracie Theatre on the Husson University campus, a professional poster promoting the event was needed. Acadia Hospital’s Communications Officer Alan Comeau knew just where to turn.
Acadia Hospital Offers New Group for Veterans
Bangor, ME – Acadia Hospital’s Ambulatory Therapy will be offering a new prolonged exposure/cognitive behavioral group developed specifically for veterans. This group will be held on Fridays from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. beginning March 16, 2012.
